Starting a website has become so easy with the content management systems like WordPress. There are many necessary steps required before you start writing.
Every now and then people keep asking as if what’re the best things to do before publishing on the web? Well, the most important thing is to submit your website to Google Search Console.
It’s because that’s how Google will start recognizing the existence of your website. Google is no magician to find your website automatically.
It’s your duty to guide the search engine. There are different ways to accomplish this but in this tutorial, I am only going to explain you about the method which requires the use of cPanel from your web hosting account.
As you know, most of the website owners are using the shared web hosting server and it comes with the cPanel access.
A Step by Step to Add Your WordPress Website to Google Search Console
Many people have the confusion about the domains and the sub-domains. In Google Search Console, you can add any type of website you want.
And it’s important that to monitor your website, its errors, and Google Search Console can do this for you.
Let’s start the process.
Step 1
. As you know, we can access any Google product with one Gmail account.
So you just need to use that and you will see an option to add your website. There will be a box to add the URL of the website.
By default, Google will consider you to add a website which is perfect. Just fill the URL and click on the “ADD A PROPERTY†button.
Your website is your property in Google Search Console.
Step 2
Once you do this, you will see many points on a new page. It will suggest you download an HTML file and upload that to the root directory of your website.
and within a few seconds, the file will get downloaded to your computer.
As you can see, Google suggests you upload the file and verify it by going to the URL mentioned. To do so, you have to access the cPanel from your web hosting account.
Step 3
. Normally, it’s present in the public_html directory.
But if you have moved it to any other folder or you run multiple websites on the same web hosting server, you may find it in the folder name of your website.
Find it and search for the “Upload†button anywhere on the cPanel. Depending on the web hosting you have, you should find it.
In most of the cases, it can be found in the main navigation menu of the cPanel.
Step 4
. It will show you a button to choose a file from your computer.
As you have already downloaded the HTML file, you just need to choose it to upload to the web hosting server. You may be wondering about its size.
Well, it’s only of a few KBs so you don’t need to worry about it. Just upload and refresh the root directory. You can easily find the HTML file.
Step 5
Now you have to come back to the Google Search Console.
. Click on the link showing on the third point and if you find it, it means you have successfully uploaded the file to your web hosting server.
To verify it, you have to click on the checkbox “I’m not a robot†and then click on the “VERIFY†button. Google will search your website for the HTML file it has provided.
If it finds the file, your website will get verified instantly. It doesn’t take much time to accomplish this. Within a few seconds, you will be able to monitor your website.
But it’s possible only if you add the sitemap of your website to Google. Every now then you may read about the structural errors, 404 error etc.
These types of errors can be monitored using Google Search Console.
Whenever Google Bots crawl your website, it gathers the data of each page of your WordPress website and displays the result on the Google Search Console.
If you ask any marketer or a blogger, you can definitely get an idea to use this tool.
Just a few months ago, Google was testing the new version of Google Search Console and many people have tested the beta version.
It’s user-friendly and you can find every detail about your website here. Now you may be wondering about the visitors’ stats.
Well, that’s Google Analytics, not Google Search Console. GSC is used to help you keep your website safe and updated.
Google continuously crawls the website and it reports when your website gets hacked, any malware detection, DNS error, render blocking, and much more.
I Hope You Can Easily Submit Your Website to Google Search Console
As I have mentioned earlier, this tutorial is all about one type of verification method. If you don’t want to use the cPanel, you can also try using the META tag option.
But in many cases, it’s reported that adding the <meta> tag to the header of your website doesn’t work. Sometimes, Google is unable to crawl the META tag and the website doesn’t get verified.
So, it’s better to choose the most preferred and recommended method. Even if you’re a non-technical person, you can easily follow the step by step guide to accomplish this.
I know that more than 70% of the people are afraid of using the cPanel because they see so many folders and files. But you don’t even need to touch any of those.
Just download the file from Google Search Console and upload it to the web hosting server. It’s simple. I hope you can do this.
