HostAdvice Speaks to Mr. Robin Lim of Worldstream IT Infrastructures

HostAdvice Speaks to Mr. Robin Lim of Worldstream IT Infrastructures

Worldstream is a company that offers affordable IT infrastructure as a custom solution with a monthly pricing model.

This time, we spoke with Mr. Robin from Worldstream (Sales & Marketing Director).

We hope you will enjoy this interview as much as we did.

Can you tell us when Worldstream was founded and the idea behind it?

In 2006 two companies involved in hosting, helmed by Lennert Vollebregt and Dirk Vromans, saw a future by combining their forces. Of course, as expected, the early period of the company was rocky, but when their challenges led them to ownership of a data center, this would mark the beginning of what makes Worldstream IT Infrastructures a success. The main reason for this shift to self-owned data centers was our constant need for quality setups from suppliers and IT Infrastructure. Besides, the combination of setting up dedicated servers from a self-owned data center through a sister company Greenhouse Datacenters, would fuel our growth and overcome these early challenges.

From where did you get the idea about offering hosting services?

This idea came naturally, as both companies were already involved in the hosting industry. From the start, the focus of Worldstream was primarily on dedicated servers as part of its core business, while sister company Greenhouse focused on the overall state-of-the-art quality of the data center.

Let’s talk about your products and services. What are you most proud to offer?

Well, to be honest, we are continuously looking forward. We are most proud of a service we have yet to introduce. Before the end of this year, we will offer a personalized cloud resource pool, complementing our current private cloud solution. For now, we’ll have to keep the details under wraps. Look out for a significantly competitively priced solution.

Can you tell us more about your dedicated server options?

Of course, our dedicated servers are available in two delivery types. On one hand, you have custom servers, which can be fully customized with RAM, processors, and drives (SSD, HDD, and NVMe). And on the other hand, we have instant delivery servers that will be available within two hours, have a fixed setup, and are exempt from any setup fees.

Both delivery types have additional network bandwidth options, the ability to have cPanel or DirectAdmin pre-installed, and if you need additional cyber security or S3-compatible storage. In the end, it all boils down to the question if you have specific needs or need a dedicated server right away.

What about the DDoS protection packages?

These packages are exclusive to our Worldstream network. Every Worldstream dedicated server has 40 Gbit/s anti-DDoS included. This is upgradeable up to 100 Gbit/s — and even 1 Tbit/s in special cases — but we notice that our standard of 40 Gbit/s mitigates most basic volume-based attacks. You can read a bit about the service on our blog here. Essentially this is a service offered on all Worldstream servers.

We noticed you have something new on your website, private cloud. Can you give us more details?

I’ll be glad to. The private cloud solution is a VMware environment with dedicated physical resources, low latency, and no noisy neighbors. Get access to a managed VMware cluster of a minimum of three dedicated ESXi hosts. No unexpected extra costs, and a fixed, monthly price. Simply put, you no longer have to invest in your own hardware.

What are the five top things that Worldstream is different from the competition?

At Worldstream we aim to have customer satisfaction through the roof. As we use data centers from ou,r sister company we can physically move to your server within minutes. This results in our ability to respond within 7 minutes on average and our ability to resolve with lightning speeds. This is strengthened by our 24/7/365 active support. Another stand-out factor is the 10 Tbit/s global network backbone. And lastly our company divisions are tightly connected, both physically and digitally. This results in short communication lines between the employees. As a result, we can offer high-quality affordable IT Infrastructure services.

Customer satisfaction is very important for the success of a lot of companies. How are you handling customer satisfaction?

Well, every company will state that they have the best support. If you look inwards, you will only notice what you think is best. To see how our customers rated us we’ve decided to setup a NPS (net promoter score), and the outcome surprised us. We,, scored 74, with a strict US-based method. This puts us on top, as anything above 70 is an excellent outcome and defines the status of our customers as promoters.

Do you have any plans to expand to different markets?

Last year we opened a PoP-location in Frankfurt, an international hub for internet exchanges. This journey was documented in some detail on our blog. This strategic step fits in our mission to have a 10 Tbit/s global network backbone that stays relevant. Currently, we don’t have any concrete plans to share on this point, but as said earlier we are continuously looking forward.

What are your plans for introducing new products and services?

I’ve already spilled our plans regarding a cloud resource pool, but we do have a few more services on the top of our mind. We’re planning to expand the storage options, introducing a brother to our existing Object and Block storage. These developments are in line with our customer-centric approach, where we actively try to be ahead of what our partners are going to ask for.

Is there anything else that you want to share with our readers?

Thank you for reading up until this point. I highly appreciate it. Feel free to visit our website to learn more and challenge us by opening a chat or sending us a message regarding any of the topics that I’ve just discussed with HostAdvice.
