Key BlueHost Features

BlueHost allows you to host unlimited websites in all shared plans except the cheapest one. With VPS Hosting plans, you get up to 3TB bandwidth and 120TB SSD space.

Additionally, they offer free SSL and domain (for the first year), automatic backups, one-click WordPress installation, and free site migration to BlueHost. Finally, you get the intuitive BlueHost builder for designing your website.

And the winner is… TMDHosting

TMDHosting’s hosting packages contain some really good features. For example, you get unlimited bandwidth and space for just $2.95 per month. Overall, TMDHosting edges it with the best features-to-price ratio.

BlueHost offers shared hosting, VPS hosting, WordPress hosting, and Dedicated hosting but lacks reseller hosting plans. There’s also a plan for WooCommerce and WP Pro (their best Managed WordPress hosting plan).

Each plan is suited to:

• Shared hosting – affordable plans for small websites requiring little server resources
• VPS hosting – best for individuals and businesses whose needs can no longer be taken care of by a shared hosting plan (e.g., growing websites)
• WordPress hosting – specifically optimized for WordPress sites
• Dedicated hosting plans – suitable for companies that get huge traffic and handles large volumes of data, who want to get high performance and great security

Round 3: Website performance (Uptime & Speed)

Uptime describes how long the server housing your website is up and running, while server speeds tell you the amount of time taken for the server to send the first byte of data. If your host’s uptime is high, it means the server experiences less downtime. A high server speed results in a quicker loading website.

I tested both services for both performance and speed and got the following results:

We tested for TMDHosting’s server speed and performance and the results showed a Time To First Byte of 1.5s and performance of 71%:

With Google PageSpeed Insights, the results were significantly better, showing a TTFB of 1.8s and an 88% performance:

Keep in mind that these stats depend on the physical distance between me (the user) and the server location and as such, they’ll vary a lot.

BlueHost Uptime & Speed

Testing Bluehost on GTMetrix yielded better results with a TTFB of 0.8s and an overall performance of 94%:

On PageSpeed Insights, the performance was 2% less than what I got on GTMetrix, and this time I got a TTFB of 1.1s.

And the Winner Is…Bluehost

With faster server speeds and a better overall performance, BlueHost is the winner for this round.

Round 4: Customer Support – Who Has the Best Support System?

TMDHosting has excellent customer support. They provide 24/7 customer support via live chat, ticket, telephone, and email. The live chat option is available on all pages, and the representatives are quick to respond and very professional.

Their response time is excellent and their customer support agents are very professional.

Both TMDHosting and BlueHost offer excellent customer support with a live chat option and a vast knowledgebase. However, BlueHost wins this round mainly due to its YouTube channel which I think is great especially if you’re a visual learner like me.

Round 5: Ease of use – Which Platform Is Easier to Use?

TMDHosting’s user interface features a beautiful combination of blue, white and grey. Their homepage shows the features you’ll enjoy from the get-go, and in the header section, you can find navigation links for all the various plans.

You can use the good old cPanel on your backend. There you have access to your file manager, database, site builder (Weebly), backup and restore, and other advanced settings.

BlueHost Ease of use

BlueHost features a clean, simple, and intuitive user interface that makes it easy for visitors to find what they’re looking for.

As for the admin, you have access to the cPanel which makes managing your website a breeze.

There you have access to website builders (Weebly included), plugins and extensions, and other tools you need to effectively manage your site.

And the Winner Is TMDHosting

Another close call. Both TMDHosting and BlueHost feature a user-friendly interface and beginner-friendly cPanel. Personally, I like TMDHosting better, so it’s the winner for this round.

Round 6: Security – Which Platform is More Secure?

In all of TMD Hosting’s plans, you get free SSL encryption, DDoS protection, domain protection, malware scanning, regular backups, and other necessary security measures. Other advanced features can be obtained by paying an extra fee.

BlueHost Security

Bluehost offers free SSL encryption, DDoS protection, and other basic security mechanisms on all of its plans. They also offer SiteLock security for $2.99 per month.

Both TMDHosting and BlueHost offer you the same protection features like SSL encryption, DDoS protection, and firewalls, but that’s about it for BlueHost. TMDHosting wins this round with more built-in security features overall.
